Fulbright Iceland-National Science Foundation Distinguished Scholar Award in Arctic Research

Primarily a research grant, the recipient of this award will conduct Arctic-related research in Iceland. The project must be well-defined and completed within the grant period. Research projects should contribute significantly to the chosen field and must also result in peer-review publication and/or paper presented at a major international conference.

Research in Seaweed Processing

The grantee will work on research projects in biopolymer chemistry that are dedicated to sourcing and processing a specific seaweed that can be used to make environmentally clean and healthy products. In Iceland, that seaweed is laminaria hyperborea (LH), which can be processed into alginate and cellulose and sold into many markets including pharmaceutical and food texture.

Fulbright Iceland-Ministry for Foreign Affairs Arctic Scholar (Multiple Disciplines)

The scholar will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, with topics to be chosen by the scholar and the host collaboratively. Additional activities may include advising students conducting research in the scholar‘s field of expertise and assistance with curriculum development.
