This award supports scholars who would like to conduct research and/or teach at the university level in Mexico, in the scholar's area of specialization. Scholars can also consult on curriculum, program and faculty development, and conduct seminars and workshops. Professionals and artists are welcome to conduct a professional project or research.

The Fulbright U.S. Studies Chair will teach up to three undergraduate and/or graduate courses in English in order to generate new knowledge about U.S. history, politics and other topics as well as build binational collaborations between U.S. and Mexican scholars and mentor Mexican students. One course may be substituted for graduate student advising.

The main purpose of this grant is capacity building in English language programs in Mexican institutions, which can include any of the specializations below.

The Fulbright-Carlos Rico Award for North American Studies offers an unparalleled opportunity to conduct research in both Canada and Mexico. The aim of the award is to enhance collaboration between leading North American scholars working on projects of importance to Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The Border designation of this award refers to geography as well as focus. The goal of the Fulbright Border Scholar Travel Award is to enhance linkages and collaborative work between U.S. and Mexican institutions and scholars in the border regions. Grantees maintain their U.S. residence and travel into Mexico periodically to engage in research, or a combination of teaching and research.

This award is to support postdoctoral fellows undertaking original research, working to publish research findings, developing and expanding personal research networks, and preparing for research-intensive careers, especially within academia.
