Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program
Each year roughly 900 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States. Individual grants are available to scholars from over 100 countries. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements apply for grants through the Fulbright Commission/Foundation or public affairs section of the U.S.

The International Education Administrators (IEA) awards help U.S. international education professionals and senior higher education officials create empowering connections with the societal, cultural and higher education systems of other countries.

When does the competition open?
The competition opens in early February and closes in mid-September, with the exception of some of the International Education Administrator (IEA) awards. For Scholar and Postdoctoral awards, please see the detailed timeline. For IEA awards, please see the country-specific timelines. Applications are submitted for opportunities in the following academic year.

Interested faculty and professionals are encouraged to participate in one of our weekly webinars. Each deals with a topic germane to the Fulbright Scholar Program, from regional and discipline information to how to fill out an application. Sessions are archived weekly.
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers over 400 awards in more than 135 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects around the world. College and university faculty, as well as artists and professionals from a wide range of fields can join over 400,000 Fulbrighters who have come away with enhanced skills, new connections and greater mutual understanding.
