The Fulbright-Turku UAS Scholar Award enables U.S. scholars to undertake teaching at the bachelor’s and master’s levels at the Turku University of Applied Sciences (Turku UAS). In addition, the scholar will participate in the research, development, and innovation (RDI) projects together with Turku UAS faculty members.

The award is meant for conducting research and/or lecturing in any field represented in the eight faculties and four independent units at the University of Turku.

The award is intended for conducting high quality research, while some lecturing at the graduate or doctoral level during the visit is also encouraged.

The aim of the award is to allow professionals in various fields to take a sabbatical leave of four to five months from normal work duties to pursue further education or training that would enhance their professional development and the field at large.

The scholar will be a member of the lecturer team in the respective competence area. At Haaga-Helia, a team teaching model is applied, and the scholar works closely with other lecturers. Scholar may be responsible for teaching a full study course or parts of courses depending on the work plan agreed.

Conduct policy-oriented research that addresses topics of common importance for the US-EU relationship and/or EU affairs and that is tenable in one, two, or three EU Member States. 

One American scholar will be selected for the Fulbright-Schuman Innovation Award, designed to support research at the intersection of policy and technology that can improve the transatlantic understanding of issues at the heart of the US-EU relationship.
