Each year roughly 850 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar awards for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States. Individual awards are available to scholars from over 100 countries.

2024 Pre-Departure Orientation Schedule

All candidates accepting awards for the following programs are required to attend a pre-departure orientation. If your country is not listed, there is no pre-departure orientation in the United States and the Fulbright Commission in your host country will provide more details.

The 2024 Pre-Departure Orientations will be virtual, and sessions will be held over the dates listed below. Attendance at Pre-Departure Orientations is mandatory. If you are not able to attend a session at the given time, you will be required to watch the recording.

Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship

All candidates accepting awards for the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship program are required to attend a virtual pre-departure orientation. In addition, Fellows to Botswana, Cambodia, Fiji, Ghana, Rwanda, Timor-Leste and Vietnam will be required to attend a pre-departure orientation for their respective world region (see above for dates).
