Number of recipients
The Fulbright Commission in Chile has established the Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Awards to enhance research efforts and increase academic exchange between U.S. Scholars and Chilean universities' schools and research centers.
These awards are pre-arranged affiliations to host exceptional, top-tier applied researchers to spend four months as a visiting scholar working in a targeted area of scholarly inquiry to conduct research, deliver lectures, seminars, or workshops to undergraduate and graduate students, collaborate in research and publications, advise, share knowledge and mentor doctoral students in their study plans, participate in enhancement and enrichment activities, and mentor the next generation of scholars, encouraging their development as public intellectuals and engaged leaders with a clear commitment to the dissemination of science. The distinguished scholar and the host university will agree on the division of responsibilities between teaching and research.
In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program seeks to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation.
