George M. Bollas
Dr. George M. Bollas is a chemical and biomolecular engineer whose work focuses on energy systems, smart manufacturing, and the application of artificial intelligence in engineering, with an emphasis on carbon-free fuels. At the University of Connecticut, he serves as a professor in chemical and biomolecular engineering, as well as the Director of the Pratt & Whitney Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering, and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering. As a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, he conducted research at the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas in Greece, examining ammonia as a hydrogen carrier for decarbonizing transportation and industry. He has authored numerous publications, led multidisciplinary collaborations across academia, industry, and government, and is actively engaged in energy entrepreneurship. His work integrates fundamental research, systems engineering, and policy-relevant innovation to support the global energy transition. His Fulbright experience has advanced his work, bridging fundamental research, systems engineering, and policy-relevant energy innovation.
