My Fulbright project was with the University of Botswana in the Advanced Practice Nursing programs and the World Health Organization’s Sub-Saharan Africa Center for Nursing and Midwifery developing telehealth capacity and web-based distance learning that increased educational outreach, healthcare access, and healthcare capacity in Botswana and throughout Africa. As a pre-COVID project it also later allowed the continued education of nursing and other essential health care professionals across the continent, as well as sustained access to care during COVID. On a Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Travel Grant, I also worked with nursing groups, educational leaders, and health ministries in Ghana, Eswatini, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Nigeria towards similar outcomes. I’ve expanded this work since my return collaborating through my home institution and other national and international organizations.
