Deborah Gray

Deborah's Fulbright project was with the University of Botswana in the Advanced Practice Nursing programs and the World Health Organization’s Sub-Saharan Africa Center for Nursing and Midwifery developing telehealth capacity and web-based distance learning that increased educational outreach, healthcare access, and healthcare capacity in Botswana and throughout Africa. As a pre-COVID project it also later allowed the continued education of nursing and other essential health care professionals across the continent, as well as sustained access to care during COVID. On a Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Travel Grant, she also worked with nursing groups, educational leaders, and health ministries in Ghana, Eswatini, Tanzania, Rwanda, & Nigeria towards similar outcomes. She’s expanded this work since her return collaborating through her home institution and other national and international organizations.
